I was contacted to create a series of activity books for the world's most popular English test for higher education and global migration – IELTS. Finding the right balance between design and function is of great importance when working with textbooks and study materials.
The purpose of the books is to introduce foreign speakers to the English language by a variety of listening, speaking and writing tasks. It needed simple, subtle design that is attractive but not distracting. As most of the content is text, I focused on the typographic style and ways to better visualise the activities in the book. My main task was to create an appealing, easy to understand, easy to use textbook that is instructive and informative without compromising on design.
